Spa Day Saturday - Chocolate Body Scrub

Okay, as you all know, I'm on a DIY spa/health and beauty products kick.  I just can't get enough.  Why?  Because it's so easy and the products are so good!

We all work so hard throughout the week and deserve a little pampering on the weekend, don't you think?  Even if it's something small like sleeping in an extra 30 minutes, this present to ourselves is a pleasure we don't get during the work week.  I've got an idea!  Let's all get together and indulge each week at "Spa Day Saturday".  What will you find? Why, you'll find my latest adventure in DIY lotions and potions.

Since we just celebrated Valentine's Day, I was inspired by Chocolate...but zero guilt chocolate.  How does that sound?   Let me first share what I've learned, via surfing the internet, about chocolate in beauty products.
  • Chocolate is a good moisturizer that rejuvenates and nourishes the skin
  • Chocolate has powerful anti-oxidant powers
  • It's anti-oxidant properties may prevent free radicals from causing damage to skin and may smooth out wrinkles
So, are you ready to whip up some chocolaty goodness?  I am.  Here's what we're making today!

Chocolate Body Scrub

Ingredients:
1 cup light olive oil
1 Tbsp cocoa butter (optional)
2 cups sugar
2 Tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:

I a microwave safe bowl, add your olive oil and cocoa butter.

Microwave on high in 20 second intervals until the cocoa butter is almost completely melted.  (The oil will be very hot and so the last little bit of cocoa butter will melt without having to microwave it much).

Add the sugar, vanilla and cocoa to your oil/butter mixture.

Stir until mixed thoroughly.

Store in mason jars.  This scrub can be used on your body when you shower. It it also a great hand scrub when you have finished washing the dishes.

If you don't have any cocoa butter, I'm sure you have everything else in your pantry.  If so, whip up a bath (without the cocoa butter) tonight.  You'll love it!

4 You

Gosh, this reminds me of a massage I ordered at a friend's bachelorette spa day. It was supposed to be a chocolate massage. I thought it would literally be chocolate. I worried about what I should wear so as not to ruin a shirt. The masseuse just about wet herself when I asked where the chocolate was. It was just some stinky, chocolate scented oil. Soooooo disappointing! THIS one you describe is what I pictured!!!
